Carjacking suspect arrested after pursuit in Glen Burnie

GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A 28-year-old man was arrested early Monday morning after allegedly committing a carjacking, shoplifting, and fleeing police in a stolen vehicle, authorities said.

The incident began on January 19, 2025, at approximately 12:55 a.m., when officers were flagged down by a carjacking victim at the Wawa located at 7800 Parke West Drive. According to police, the victim was approached by a white male suspect who displayed a handgun and demanded her gold Ford Taurus. The suspect fled the scene in the stolen car.

Later that morning, at approximately 7:50 a.m., officers responded to a shoplifting call at the Wawa located at 7124 Ritchie Highway. Investigators identified the suspect as operating the Ford Taurus that had been reported stolen earlier in the carjacking.

On January 20, 2025, at approximately 5:40 a.m., officers received another shoplifting report, this time at the Royal Farms at 6901 Ritchie Highway. Officers spotted the stolen Ford Taurus at Ritchie Highway and Ordnance Road shortly after the incident. A pursuit ensued when the vehicle fled, eventually stopping in the 3900 block of Pennington Avenue. The suspect fled on foot but was apprehended after a brief chase.

Police identified the suspect as Braeden Carter Haas, 28, of Pasadena, Maryland. Haas, who had outstanding warrants and is prohibited from possessing firearms, was found carrying a .40 caliber Glock handgun at the time of his arrest.
