Carjacking suspect caught, second still on the run in DC

WASHINGTON, DC — A 32-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an unarmed carjacking that took place earlier this year in Northwest, while police continue to search for another suspect involved in the assault and theft.

The incident occurred on April 25 at approximately 1:44 a.m. in the 800 block of 7th Street, Northwest. According to police, the victim was approached by multiple individuals, assaulted, and had their vehicle stolen during the confrontation.

On July 18, Jarrell Gayden of Northeast, DC, was arrested pursuant to a DC Superior Court warrant and charged with unarmed carjacking.

The investigation remains active as the Metropolitan Police Department continues efforts to identify a second suspect in the case.
