Stolen Firearms Recovered After Altercation in South Stafford
**Stafford, VA** – Two juveniles were detained in South Stafford following an altercation that led to the discovery of stolen firearms. On Thursday at approximately 6:06 p.m., Sergeant J.D. Hurt, along with Deputies S.C. Steinway, M.A. Holub, and S.T. Myers, responded to Ridgemore Street due to a reported fight in progress.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers observed the suspects fleeing into nearby woods but managed to detain two 17-year-olds shortly thereafter. The juveniles had been consuming Twisted Tea and verbally provoking each other, which escalated into a physical conflict. During the investigation, authorities suspected the involvement of firearms and initiated a search.
Deputy Myers deployed his K-9 partner, Gunner, to assist in locating any hidden weapons. Gunner successfully tracked and found a handgun buried under leaves. Continuing the search, Gunner led deputies to another concealed firearm. Both firearms had altered serial numbers and were confirmed stolen.
