Man Who Drove Into Police Officers Charged with Assault by Auto

TOMS RIVER-On December 30, 2014, complaints were signed against Jeffrey S. Carstens, 43, of Belmar, NJ, by OCPO Det. Michael Proto for two counts of Assault by Auto. The charges stem from the July 18, 2014, motor vehicle crash which injured Pine Beach Police Officers Robert King and Jesse Urban. On that night in July, the officers were conducting a traffic stop on Route 9 in Pine Beach Township when they were struck by Carstens’ vehicle. Police: Man Committed Suicide at Lakewood Pistol Range

LAKEWOOD-At approximately 2:50pm this afternoon, Officers from the Lakewood Police Department responded to the Shore Shot Pistol Range located on Airport Road, in response to a gunshot victim. Upon arrival, Officers found a 32 year old Woodbridge man unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Further investigation confirmed that the wound was self inflicted.

Brick Police Firmly Believe Jackson Man is Breast Pump Thief

BRICK-On December 31st, Detective Daniel Waleski charged Joseph T. Galucci (white male, 34 years old, Nebraska Ave, Jackson, NJ) with the theft of breast pumps from the Burlington Coat Factory. The original incident occurred on December 1st. The breast pumps had an approximate value of $1,000.00. Due to numerous tips received through social media, the Brick Township Police Department was able to identify and successfully arrest Galucci. Galucci was charged with Shoplifting, and a warrant was issued by the Honorable Judge Robert Lepore at $20,000.00 with no option to post ten percent. Man Arrested Pushing Stolen Baby Stroller in Lakewood

LAKEWOOD-On January 3rd at approximately 12:50 am, Sgt. Jason Pederson observed a male pushing a baby carriage west on Ocean Avenue. Knowing that, in the past, several baby strollers were stolen, he decided to stop and speak to the man, identified as 40 year old George Reid of Lakewood. While speaking to Reid, Sgt. Pederson observed that stroller did not have a baby, but was loaded with unbagged groceries and a boxed toaster over. Man Arrested Three Weeks After Assault at Berkeley Restaurant

BAYVILLE-On January 2nd 2015 at 12:30 p.m., Gerard McNie, 49 of Aikens Street was arrested on the strength of an outstanding warrant issued by the Berkeley Township Police Department. This warrant was issued for an Aggravated Assault that occurred on December 13, 2014 at Yesterday’s Restaurant. Bail for Mr. McNie was set at $5,000 full; and he was processed and released on bail. Is That Vodka In Your Pants? Man Cited for Trying to Lift Booze on New Year's Eve

BERKELEY-On December 31st 2014, Berkeley Police responded to a report of a suspicious walking on Frederick Drive. Upon arrival the officers observed this male walking down Frederick Drive with something protruding from his pants. Further investigation revealed that the item concealed was in fact a bottle of alcohol. The subject identified as, Richard Botterio 35 Frederick Drive Bayville, could not provide a receipt for the bottle. Detective John Legg spoke to the staff at Spirits liquor store, who stated that the suspect never paid for the alcohol (vodka). Driver Ticketed After Striking Police Car

BERKELEY-On December 27th 2014 at 11:25 a.m. while Patrolman David Burke was enroute to an emergency call, A vehicle driven George Costantino 89 of Camrose St Berkeley, proceeded through a stop sign at the intersection of Freeport Drive and San Carlos Street and struck Patrolman Burke’s police vehicle on the driver’s side. As a result of the investigation, Costantino was issued a summons for failure to stop or yield. Patrolman Burke was transported to Community Medical Center due to a moderate injury and was later discharged. Patrolman John Houghkirk investigated the crash.

Police Arrest Disorderly Bayville Man on Christmas Day

BERKELEY-On December 25th 2014 at 2:30 p.m. Patrolmen Al Foca and Ptl. D.J. Williams observed an intoxicated male staggering down Frederick Drive near Route 9. The officer stopped male, identified as Michael Gray 44 from Halsey Avenue Bayville, who immediately became aggressive towards Officer D.J. Williams. While speaking to Grey he became very belligerent and disorderly. At As a result, Grey was placed under arrest transported to police H.Q. and processed. Grey was later released on a summons.

Manchester Police Searching for Armed Robbery Suspect

MANCHESTER-Manchester Township Police are searching for a man who displayed a handgun during a robbery at the Whiting CVS Pharmacy on Monday, Dec. 29. At approximately 5:30 p.m. that day, the suspect entered the CVS on Route 530 and Schoolhouse Rd. and walked up to the cashier, where he demanded money. The suspect pulled out of his jacket what appeared to be a black semi-automatic handgun and pointed it at the cashier when he was questioned about the money. When the cashier handed the suspect the cash, he exited the CVS and traveled by foot right on to Schoolhouse Road.

Brick Police Announce New Youth Police Explorer Club

BRICK-The Brick Township Police Department and the Brick Township Police Athletic League have partnered up and are pleased to announce a new and exciting program aimed at our townships middle school youth. Beginning in February we are launching a Youth Police Explorer Club. Unlike our Police Explorer Post which is open to students ages 14 to 21. Duck Hunters Rescued in Little Egg Inlet on New Year's Eve

  A duck hunting party required a lift by the United States Coast Guard on New Year’s eve in the waters of Little Egg Inlet. U.S Coast Guard vessel CG 25708 was launched to assist a duck hunting boat that was disabled in Little Egg Inlet. The CG 25708 towed them to safety where they were relieved of the tow by a friend of the disabled vessel.

Fire at Lakewood Home on New Year's Eve

LAKEWOOD (VIA TLS)-‎A fire broke out at a Lakewood home this afternoon 12-31-14, leaving the homes severely damaged, officials say. Expired Registration Leads Stafford Police to Marijuana Bust

STAFFORD-On Wednesday, 12/31/2014 at 8:35 PM, Patrolman Jacob Conner of the Stafford Township Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on a vehicle being being operated by Zackeri Gonzalez of Permberton, NJ for an expired registration. After Patrolman Conner detected an odor of suspected marijuana emanating from the vehicle a consensual search of Zackeri’s motor vehicle was conducted and yielded a suspected partially smoked marijuana cigarette and drug paraphernalia. Zackeri was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters where he was processed and released with a future court date.

18 Year Old Woman Charged with DUI in Stafford

STAFFORD-On January 1, 2015 at approximately 1:00 a.m., Ptl. Griffin of the Stafford Township Police Department witnessed a white Jeep Grand Cherokee failing to maintain its lane on Route 72.  A motor vehicle stop was initiated near milepost 23.  Investigation revealed the driver, Catherine A. Joy Riding Juvenile Who Fell From Hood of Moving Car Listed in Critical Condition

STAFFORD-On 12/29/14, Stafford Police were contacted by the Southern Ocean Medical Center at approximately 8:41 p.m. in reference to a juvenile male age 16 who was brought in for head trauma from a motor vehicle incident. At the hospital it was learned that a group of friends were behind the Wal-Mart store when the 16 year old juvenile jumped on the hood of a vehicle operated by Bailey Reid, 17 of Manahawkin. Suspended Doctor Arrested, Charged with Running Prescription Drug Ring

Detectives from the Middletown Township Police Department working with investigators from this Office and the state Division of Consumer Affairs have dismantled a prescription drug ring run by a suspended physician Thursday night following a monthlong investigation, announced Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni.
