BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – Central Regional School District has not formally accepted the resignation of disgraced Superintendent Triantafillos Parlapanides. Parlapandines resigned shortly after he was interviewed by UK tabloid, The Daily Mirror where he aired inappropriate private matters regarding 14-year-old Adriana Kuch and her family.
Families heading into a Thursday Board of Education thought Parlapandines was done, but he’s not. School board members officially named Douglas Corbett as acting superintendent, but they never formally accepted Parlapandines’ resignation.
Instead, Parlapandine was placed on a paid leave of absence by the district. He earns $187,000 per year in that position.
The district is not only paying for two superintendents, they are also paying $150 per hour for a public relations firm to handle the fallout created by the district’s handling of the Adriana Kuch matter.
School board attorney Christopher Dasti confirmed the district is now paying the salaries for both superintendents.
The board refused to answer further questions from the public regarding the matter citing employee confidentiality.

The measure to continue paying Parlapandines was approved by the board.
In the aftermath of Kuch’s death, Parlapandines sent out a letter to students banning non-district-approve gatherings in Kuch’s memory.
“There will not be any rallies in the future without the prior administrative approval; otherwise, action will be taken,” he wrote.
