Chain Snatchers Sought in Brooklyn

NEW YORK, N.Y. — The New York City Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying an individual involved in a chain-snatching incident that occurred last week in Brooklyn.

Police reported that on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at approximately 2:09 p.m., a 42-year-old female was approached from behind inside 43 Belmont Avenue by an unidentified individual. The individual forcibly snatched a chain from the victim’s neck.

The suspect fled the scene on a moped, heading eastbound on Belmont Avenue, accompanied by two other individuals who appeared to be acting in concert with the suspect. The victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on the suspects’ identities or whereabouts to come forward. “This is what happened,” the New York City Police Department said in a statement.
