Charles County Home Damaged in Fire; No Injuries Reported

WHITE PLAINS , MD – A fire broke out in a two-story single-family dwelling at 9251 Kris Drive, White Plains, Charles County, Maryland. The incident occurred at 4:52 p.m. on January 19, as reported by the Office of the State Fire Marshal.

The home, owned by Anthony Powell, sustained significant damage with an estimated loss of $200,000 to the structure and $1,000 to contents. No injuries or deaths were reported in the incident.

The smoke alarm present in the home did not activate, and there were no fire alarms or sprinklers installed. The fire was controlled within 15 minutes by the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department, involving 60 firefighters.

The fire was discovered by an occupant of the home, who alerted others, leading to safe evacuation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The occupants have been displaced and are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
