ERIE COUNTY, NY – Yuriy Bruks, a 38-year-old man from Cheektowaga, was sentenced on Friday before Erie County Court Judge James Bargnesi to 25 years in prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision. On Sunday, August 4, 2019, police and paramedics responded to a home on Raymond Avenue after receiving a 911 call.
They found the victim, 34-year-old Tetiana Bruks, deceased inside a bathroom.
The Erie County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled the death as a homicide caused by blunt force trauma to the head, neck, and torso.
Bruks had fled the area but was later apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service after illegally crossing into Mexico. He pleaded guilty to one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree on April 28, 2023.
