Chesapeake police arrest suspect who shot at cop car

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Police have arrested a suspect in connection with the November 24 shooting of a marked police vehicle, officials announced Friday.

Dominique Vaughan was taken into custody without incident during the execution of a search warrant at a residence in the 4000 block of Sloop Trail. The operation was carried out by the Chesapeake Police Department’s Investigations Unit with support from the department’s SWAT team.

The November 24 incident involved a Chesapeake police officer who was driving a marked vehicle when it was struck by gunfire. No injuries were reported, but the case has remained under active investigation since the shooting.

Vaughan is currently being held at the Chesapeake City Jail, police said. Authorities did not provide details on the charges or a potential motive.

The investigation remains ongoing as Chesapeake police work to gather more evidence in the case.
