CHESTERFIELD, VA — A routine stop at a Royal Farms convenience store turned into a life-changing moment for a Chesterfield man after he scratched off a $100,000 winning Virginia Lottery ticket.

Jamie Howard purchased a Ca$h Corners Crossword scratch-off at Royal Farms, 10301 Midlothian Turnpike, after having dinner with his wife. The ticket revealed the game’s top prize, making him the fifth person to claim the $100,000 jackpot.

The Ca$h Corners Crossword game features prizes ranging from $5 to $100,000, with only one top prize remaining unclaimed. The odds of winning the top prize are 1 in 1,224,000.

Howard, a retired U.S. Army veteran, has no immediate plans for his winnings other than paying bills. All Virginia Lottery profits go to K-12 education, with Chesterfield County receiving more than $39.8 million in funding last fiscal year.
