SYRACUSE, NY – A young child was found alone Thursday morning in the Westcott neighborhood of Syracuse, prompting an urgent effort by police to locate the child’s parent or guardian.

The child was discovered around 8:20 a.m. near Recess Coffee, a popular café in the area. According to the Syracuse Police Department, the child is approximately 4 feet 3 inches tall and weighs around 65 pounds.

Officers have not released the child’s name or any additional identifying information but are asking for the public’s help in identifying the child or connecting them with their parent or legal guardian.

As of Thursday afternoon, the child remains in the care of authorities while the search continues.
