TOMS RIVER, N.J. – A young child sustained serious injuries after being struck by a vehicle on Hickory Street early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

Hatzolah emergency responders arrived at the scene around 8:30 a.m. and provided immediate medical care before transporting the child to Jersey Shore University Medical Center for further treatment.
