Clifton Police Report Increase in Nighttime Residential Burglaries

CLIFTON, NJ – The Clifton Police Department is alerting residents to a recent surge in nighttime residential burglaries, including a significant incident in the Montclair Heights section of the city.

Early this morning, around 3:15 AM, an attempted burglary occurred on Robin Hood Road, where at least four male suspects tried to steal a vehicle from a homeowner’s driveway. The homeowner confronted the suspects, leading to an altercation during which a gunshot was fired by the homeowner. Fortunately, no injuries were reported as the suspects fled the scene in a silver or grey colored sedan.

These incidents are part of a broader trend in the region, prompting the police to urge residents to remain vigilant in securing their homes and vehicles. Both recent burglary attempts are currently under investigation. Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious activity immediately as law enforcement works to address this uptick in criminal activity.
