Cold weather tips from Berkeley Township

BERKELEY – The Township of Berkeley reminds residents to stay safe and warming during the expected cold spell.

Cold weather tips include wearing layers of lightweight clothing, including gloves and a hat to prevent the loss of body heat. For the home, residents should run water, even at a trickle, to avoid frozen pipes. Also, they should keep the thermostat at the same temperature day and night.

Residents who are using a fireplace should sure it sits on a level, hard surface. Anything flammable should be kept at least three feet away. Do no use a stove or an oven to heat the home.
