Colon, Ruiz found guilty in 2020 Lee Count murder

LEE COUNTy, FL – On February 19, 2020, detectives with the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit responded to Woodward Court and Beth Stacey Boulevard in Lehigh Acres where they located a deceased male inside a car with a gunshot wound.

Detectives conducted their investigation at the intersection where the victim was found. While piecing the crime together, detectives learned of a witness’ dash cam footage that filmed the entire incident. Utilizing that video and other information gathered on scene, two suspects were identified: Victor Colon, JR. (DOB 06/30/1996) and Ricky Ruiz (DOB 01/07/1996).

The two were subsequently arrested and charged with Second Degree Murder and Shooting into an Occupied Conveyance.

On January 21, 2022, Victor Colon, JR. and Ricky Ruiz were found guilty of all charges. Their sentencing is scheduled for January 31.
