Colora Home Damaged in Saturday Morning Fire

COLORA, MD – A Saturday morning fire destroyed a one-story home in Cecil County, leaving the occupants displaced but unharmed.

The blaze broke out around 10:31 a.m. at 88 Wyatt Lane, where firefighters arrived to find flames consuming the exterior rear deck of the wood-framed house. Twenty-five firefighters responded to the single-alarm fire and brought it under control in about 30 minutes.

No injuries were reported, but the damage is estimated at $200,000. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.

Investigators said the home was equipped with smoke alarms, but the fire started in an unprotected area. No sprinkler or fire alarm system was installed.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
