Columbus police cruiser - Columbus OH

COLUMBUS, OH – Easter morning in Columbus started the same way so many days in 2021 have stated…with a murder.

At 3:30 am, Columbus police responded to a suspicious vehicle call in the area of 1370 Republic Avenue. A white vehicle was parked outside an alley and was not moving. The caller said he approached the vehicle and told the driver to leave the area, but the driver did not leave.

When police officers arrived, they opened the door to find a white male, dead inside the vehicle. He was shot and not breathing, the responding officers determined quickly. Officers called for medical backup, but the man was pronounced dead at 3:22 am.

This was the 50th homicide of 2021.
