Columbus Police Continue Search for Killer of 19-Year-Old Last Winter

COLUMBUS, OH – Columbus police are searching for a man wanted for the murder of a 19-year-old in February

Police today issued the following statement:

Homicide detectives have identified a suspect in a February 2022 shooting that left a 19-year-old man dead. An arrest warrant has been issued for Josiah O. Herring. On February 23, 2022, Columbus Police officers responded to the 300 block of Whitethorne Avenue to investigate a report of shots fired. Officers found Dameire Novell Thornton suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Columbus Fire medics pronounced Mr. Thornton deceased at 11:08 p.m.
