Columbus woman charged for murder after running over 25-year-old Makaela Ellis

COLUMBUS, OH – On Friday, April 9, 2021, at 6:52pm, Columbus Police officers responded to a report of a shooting at 1414 Harrisburg Pike. Upon arrival, officers learned 25-year-old Makaela Ranea Ellis was struck by a motor vehicle driven by 21-year-old Bria Kaye Henslee.

Ellis was transported to Grant Hospital where she was pronounced deceased at 7:25 pm.

Investigators found the shooting did not occur until after Ellis was struck by the vehicle.

No one was injured as a result of the shooting. Bria Kaye Henslee is being charged with Murder and a male is being charged with a weapons offense. We will not be able to release photos of the male until additional follow-up can be completed by investigators.
