Construction Duo Hits $1 Million Jackpot, Heads to Golf Course

FREDERICK, MD — An unexpected $1 million scratch-off win prompted two construction workers, “Mr. Papagiorgio” and his coworker, to swap their workday for a golf course celebration.

The pair started their day with a routine stop for coffee and doughnuts. They ended up purchasing two $20 100X The Cash scratch-offs. The winning moment came quickly, as one of the tickets, purchased from Sheetz at 7301 Executive Way, revealed the $1 million top prize.

“Mr. Papagiorgio,” inspired by his love for the movie “Vegas Vacation,” could not believe their luck. After confirming the win, they immediately phoned their wives and one of their bosses, who gave them the rest of the day off—the duo celebrated by playing 18 holes of golf.

The Frederick resident plans to use his share of the prize to pay bills and save for his son’s college education, while “Mr. Papagiorgio” is looking forward to funding his retirement and fulfilling a long-promised honeymoon. The Sheetz store will receive a $1,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
