Cop Struck With Bottle At Underage Drinking Party in Hasbrouck Heights

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ – An evening response to an illegal underage drinking gathering turned violent as a Hasbrouck Heights police officer was assaulted with a bottle thrown through the patrol car window last weekend.

While approaching a residence on Ottawa Avenue, a few doors down from Hasbrouck Heights Middle and High School, following a noise complaint, an officer was struck, as a bottle was hurled through the open window of the patrol car by one of the attendees.

The house, owned by Joshua and Cynthia Daniels, was hosting approximately 75 mostly underage individuals consuming alcoholic beverages, authorities reported.

Although the officer involved was fortunate to evade serious injury, Hasbrouck Heights Police Chief Joseph Rinke made it clear that the individual responsible for the attack will face aggressive prosecution.

In the aftermath, homeowners Joshua and Cynthia Daniels found themselves criminally charged for permitting underage drinking at their home.

Cynthia Daniels also faces accusations of making alcoholic beverages accessible to the underage attendees.
