SECAUCUS, NJ — A Philadelphia man was arrested early Monday after attempting to break into a Secaucus apartment building, stealing a $13,000 golf cart, and being linked to an armed home invasion in Robbinsville, according to police.

At 12:57 a.m. Monday, staff at the Xchange apartment complex on Riverside Station Boulevard called 911 to report a man attempting to force his way into a building. The man, later identified as 22-year-old Alaji Ahmad-Alwan, fled the area after being denied access and stole a golf cart from the complex.
The golf cart, valued at $13,000, was later found abandoned nearby. Officers located Ahmad-Alwan shortly after and took him into custody. A search revealed he was in possession of items belonging to a resident in Robbinsville, New Jersey.
Linked to armed home invasion in Robbinsville
Secaucus Police contacted Robbinsville Police and learned that the owner of the recovered property had been the victim of an armed home invasion earlier that same day. Ahmad-Alwan matched the suspect description, and Robbinsville authorities issued an arrest warrant for him in connection with the invasion.
Ahmad-Alwan was also found to have an active warrant from Point Pleasant, NJ, issued on March 28, for motor vehicle theft.
Facing multiple charges, held in Hudson County Jail
He is now facing several charges including Unlawful Taking of Means of Conveyance, Credit Card Theft, Receiving Stolen Property, and Hindering Apprehension by providing false information to police. Ahmad-Alwan remains in custody at the Hudson County Jail.
