COVID 19 Hospitalization in New Jersey Drops Below March Levels
  • New Jersey News

TRENTON, NJ – Many people remain hospitalized in hospitals across the state of New Jersey from the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, but as of Monday, only 345 people were hospitalized statewide with COVID-19.   Of those 345 people, 128 remain in intensive care and 54 were still on life-supporting ventilators.  A large number of patients remaining hospitalized are over the age of 65.    ys,

“In our hospitals, as of the latest data on our dashboard, there were 695 total hospitalizations,” Murphy said, citing a number that doesn’t represent actual COVID-19 patients. “I don’t remember the last time we had a six handle on that number. 345, Judy, of that 695 – tell me, I think you’d agree with this – were known positive COVID-19. Another 350 is persons under investigation pending the return of their test results. Of that total, 128 in intensive care. 54 ventilators in use.”

Murphy also noted that 17 deaths were lab confirmed with COVID-19 on Monday, but did not divulge when those deaths actually occurred.  Of those 17 deaths, only two people statewide have reportedly died from COVID-19 in the past 5 days.

“All of the metrics in our healthcare system continue to turn positively, and we’re seeing our standing in the national rankings decrease, which is also a good thing,” Murphy said. “However, today we’re reporting that another 17 deaths statewide are now confirmed to have been from COVID-19 related causes. God bless each and every one of them, but of that 17, only two occurred in the last five days. As of the latest available hospital data – and Judy will get into this in more detail – there were two additional deaths to report, but they’re still pending lab confirmation and are not included in our totals.”
