CRANFORD, NJ — A homeowner on Willow Street returned from work early Monday morning to find their front door open and their residence ransacked, prompting an investigation by the Cranford Police Department.

Officers responded to the home at approximately 12:24 a.m. and discovered a garage window ajar, believed to be the burglar’s point of entry. The incident does not appear to be related to the ongoing trend of high-end vehicle thefts, police said.

Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the Cranford Police Department at 908-272-2222.

Anyone with surveillance footage of the incident is asked to contact Detective Lieutenant Spencer Durkin at 908-709-7346 or email police@cranfordnj.org.

The investigation remains ongoing as police work to identify the suspect or suspects involved.
