NEW MILFORD, CT — A $50,000 prize-winning Cashword scratch-off ticket was sold at New Milly Smoke Shop in New Milford, making one local lottery player substantially richer, according to Connecticut Lottery records.

The winning claim was filed Thursday, May 1, and marks a top-tier win for the $50,000 Cashword game. The Connecticut Lottery has not released the identity of the winner.

Cashword is one of the state’s most popular scratch-off games, known for its word-based format and multiple prize tiers. Hitting the $50,000 prize is one of the game’s highest possible payouts.

Retailer New Milly Smoke Shop will receive a bonus for selling the winning ticket. The location is now among a growing list of stores statewide credited with dispensing major lottery wins.
