Crowds Rush Off Boardwalk After Reports of ‘Gunfire’ in Seaside Heights

SEASIDE HEIGHTS, NJ – Crowds of people ran off the Seaside Heights boardwalk Saturday night after loud ‘bangs’ were heard. At first, police responded to the scene in force with reported gunshot claims.

Later, police determined there was no gunfire and were not able to find any evidence, according to initial reports. Police did not find evidence of a shooting as had been shared on social media earlier tonight.

Earlier in the evening, crowds of unruly teens were reported on the boardwalk, blocking traffic on nearby roads. Police have announced a 10 p.m. curfew for juveniles.

Police responded to the area but, at this time, reported no gunfire, contradicting reports circulating on social media apps. The scene at the boardwalk has since returned to normal, and large crowds continue to enjoy the first summer weekend at the Jersey Shore.
