Cumberland Assault Leads to Arrest

CUMBERLAND, MD – On Monday, Cumberland Police Department officers responded to an alleged assault at a residence on the 300 block of Cumberland Street at approximately 3:08 PM.

Officers interviewed the victim who reported the assault by Julio Marc Nelson, age 42.

The victim had visible injuries that corroborated her account. After investigating the scene, Nelson was arrested and processed at police headquarters.

Nelson was later transported to Central Booking and appeared before a District Court Commissioner for a bond hearing.

The Commissioner set a bond of $2,500, and Nelson was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center pending further legal action.
