Cumberland man arrested for assault and false imprisonment following domestic incident

CUMBERLAND, Md. — A 25-year-old man was arrested Thursday afternoon after allegedly assaulting a person during a domestic incident at a residence on Sommerville Avenue, the Cumberland Police Department announced Friday.

Officers responded to the scene at approximately 1:42 p.m. on June 5, where they spoke with the victim, who reported being bitten and scratched by Arthur Lee Brown Jr. during an altercation inside the home.

Police said officers observed injuries consistent with the victim’s account and reviewed video surveillance as part of the investigation. Brown was taken into custody without incident.

He was charged with second-degree assault and false imprisonment, according to the department.

Brown was transported to Central Booking and appeared before a District Court commissioner. He was remanded to the Allegany County Detention Center without bond.
