D.C. Police Nab 22-Year-Old Woman in Gun Assault

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department detectives have successfully apprehended a suspect in connection with an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon Offense that occurred on Friday morning at the 3900 block of Georgia Avenue in Northwest, D.C.

The incident unfolded at approximately 8:44 a.m. when the suspect approached the victim and brandished a handgun, triggering a violent altercation. During the confrontation, the victim was repeatedly struck with the handgun, and a single gunshot was discharged. Following the altercation, the suspect fled the scene, leaving the injured victim in need of immediate medical attention. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

In a significant development, the Crime Suppression Unit executed a search warrant granted by the DC Superior Court at a residence located within the same 3900 block of Georgia Avenue. The search operation yielded vital evidence, including a firearm, multiple rounds of ammunition, and controlled substances.

The suspect, identified as 22-year-old Zaria Williams, hailing from Northwest, D.C., was taken into custody on the day of the incident. Williams now faces a litany of charges, including Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, Carrying a Pistol Without a License, and Possession with Intent to Distribute a Controlled Substance.
