D.C. Shooting Leaves One Man Dead, Suspect Arrested

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Demarcus Barnett, a 20-year-old from Southeast, D.C. has been apprehended and charged with a shooting that took place on Thursday.

The Washington, D.C. Metro Police Department’s Homicide Branch detectives made the arrest as part of their investigation into the incident, which occurred in Northwest, D.C.

The victim, identified as 62-year-old Lasanta McGill, was shot Thursday afternoon at the 1900 block of 7th Street. Police arrived at the scene shortly after 1 pm to investigate a report of a shooting and found the victim. McGill was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
