DC cops bust 59-year-old in MLK Jr Ave break-in

DC man arrested after burglary at Southeast business on Martin Luther King Jr Ave

Washington, DC – Police have arrested a 59-year-old man in connection with a break-in at a Southeast business early Sunday morning, officials announced Tuesday.

Around 5:34 a.m. on August 24, officers responded to the 2000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue SE after a suspect forcefully entered an establishment, stole property, and fled.

A short time later, investigators identified and arrested Francis Smith of Northeast DC. He was charged with Burglary Two.

No injuries were reported during the incident, and detectives say the case remains under active investigation.
