DC man charged in brutal stabbing death of 66-year-old woman

Man arrested in fatal stabbing of 66-year-old woman in Southeast DC

Washington, DC — A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged with second-degree murder after a woman was fatally stabbed inside a Southeast DC residence earlier this week, police announced Tuesday.

The stabbing occurred on Sunday, September 21, at approximately 3:51 a.m., when Sixth District officers responded to the 2100 block of 32nd Place, Southeast, following a report of an assault. Officers arrived to find an adult female suffering from stab wounds. She was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Despite medical efforts, the victim died on Tuesday, September 23. She has been identified as 66-year-old Pamela Botts of Southeast, D.C.

On Monday, September 22, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Ricardo Botts, 36, also of Southeast, D.C., pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant. He has been charged with Second Degree Murder while Armed.

The case is being investigated as a domestic-related homicide. Police have not disclosed the relationship between the victim and the suspect, but both shared the same last name and were from the same neighborhood.
