DEA agents operating in Fort Lee shoot suspect

FORT LEE, NJ – DEA agents operating a case in Bergen County were involved in a shooting incident that sent one suspect to the hospital in stable condition on Tuesday.

According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, detectives are investigating a non-fatal shooting that occurred on Whiteman Street in Fort Lee.

The shooting occurred at approximately 1:35 p.m., involving two agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration during an ongoing DEA investigation.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

“The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office was notified but requested that the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office undertake the independent investigation of the shooting,” the BCPO said today.

Typically the Attorney General’s Office handles law enforcement involved investigations within the state.
