Deadly Pedestrian Accident Under Investigation in Milton

MILTON, DE – Delaware State Police are currently investigating a tragic incident that resulted in the death of an 18-year-old woman from Linwood, Pennsylvania. The accident occurred early this morning on Coastal Highway near Oyster Rocks Road.

Around 12:15 a.m., a Nissan Altima, driven by a 34-year-old woman from Dover, Delaware, was traveling northbound when a pedestrian unexpectedly stepped into the roadway. The pedestrian, a passenger from a nearby stopped Dodge Charger, was reportedly searching for her cell phone when she entered the path of the Nissan. The collision resulted in her immediate death at the scene.

The highway was closed for about four hours to allow for a thorough investigation and cleanup. The identity of the deceased is withheld pending notification of her family. The driver of the Nissan was unharmed in the incident.
