ALLEGHANY COUNTY, MD — Authorities are investigating the death of a 28-year-old inmate at the North Branch Correctional Institution, which has been ruled a homicide following an autopsy.

Maryland State Police identified the deceased as Robert Warren, who was found dead in his cell on Nov. 25. Officials have not released details about the manner of his death but confirmed that a suspect, also an inmate, has been identified.

No charges have been filed against the suspect as of Wednesday morning, police said. The case remains under investigation.

Once the investigation is concluded, the Alleghany County State’s Attorney’s Office will determine whether charges will be brought against the suspect.
