Delaware Man Arrested for Series of Gas Station Robberies

Wilmington, DE — Delaware State Police have arrested Joshua Liebal, a 38-year-old resident of Wilmington, in connection with a series of armed robberies at gas stations in New Castle County this week.

On August 28, 2024, at approximately 8:10 p.m., troopers were dispatched to the Star Gas Station on Kirkwood Highway following a report of a robbery. The investigation revealed that a masked white male suspect, armed with a knife, entered the gas station and demanded that the employee at the counter open the cash register. After the employee complied, the suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene in a silver GMC Envoy.

A trooper patrolling the area shortly thereafter spotted a silver GMC Envoy matching the description of the suspect’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. The driver, identified as Joshua Liebal, was found wearing clothing that matched the description of the robbery suspect and was taken into custody without incident.
