Delaware middle school teacher arrested for child sexual solicitation

NEWARK, Del. — A George V. Kirk Middle School teacher has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies related to the sexual solicitation and abuse of a student, Delaware State Police announced.

David DiFilippo, 45, of Newark, was taken into custody Wednesday after an investigation revealed he engaged in sexually explicit online conversations and made inappropriate physical contact with a student between September 2023 and February 2024 while serving as the victim’s teacher.

The investigation, launched in August 2024, uncovered that DiFilippo communicated with the victim via a social media platform and allegedly touched the student at school in a manner that made them feel “alarmed and uncomfortable,” authorities said. After a months-long inquiry, detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest.

DiFilippo turned himself in on February 20, 2025, and was charged with seven offenses, including sexual solicitation of a child under 18, enticement for sexual conduct, and sexual abuse of a child by a person of trust. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on a $65,500 secured bond.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing its investigation and urges anyone with information or additional victims to contact Detective M. Conway at 302-365-8411 or Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.

Authorities are seeking any additional victims as the investigation into the former teacher continues.
