Delaware State Police Investigate Early Morning Shooting at New Castle Motel

New Castle, DE — Delaware State Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Sunday morning at Red Roof Inn & Suites in New Castle.

At approximately 3:33 a.m. on Sunday, troopers responded to a shooting at 1612 N. Dupont Highway. Upon arrival, they found that a 20-year-old male had been transported to a local hospital with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his arm.

Preliminary investigation indicates that several individuals had gathered at the motel after attending a local concert. During the gathering, an argument broke out between the victim and an unknown suspect. The altercation escalated, and the suspect fired a shot at the victim before fleeing the scene.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is continuing the investigation. Authorities urge anyone who may have witnessed the shooting or has relevant information to contact Detective G. Rash at (302) 365-8427.
