Deputies raid drug den in Deltona,two arrested

DELTONA, FL – Two individuals were arrested on multiple counts of trafficking in fentanyl following a three-month undercover investigation into their drug operation this weekend.

Michael Espejo and Luis Collazo were identified as the two arrested suspects in the raid on a home in Deltona.

The investigation, conducted by the Deltona Narcotics Enforcement Team of the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of the Drug Enforcement Administration, focused on drug activity at 725 Hartley Ave.

During the investigation, undercover detectives purchased and seized a total of 64 grams of fentanyl from the dealers. On the day of the arrest, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant at the residence with the assistance of the West Volusia Narcotics Task Force and patrol deputies. They discovered an additional 8.9 grams of fentanyl, 15 grams of cocaine, 9 grams of Alprazolam, THC gummies, and $1,250 in cash.

Espejo and Collazo each face three counts of trafficking in fentanyl. Espejo also faces three additional counts of sale and delivery of heroin/fentanyl within 1,000 feet of a park. Both defendants have previously served time in the Florida prison system for narcotics sales and other offenses.

Espejo’s bond is set at $850,000, while Collazo’s bond is set at $700,000. The Volusia County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with other agencies, has been actively investigating heroin/fentanyl trafficking organizations in Central Florida. These efforts have resulted in over 30 arrests and the seizure of more than 2,300 grams of fentanyl, as well as other illicit substances such as black tar heroin, methamphetamine, and cocaine. Sheriff Mike Chitwood emphasized that these investigations will continue in Volusia County and Central Florida with the assistance of local, state, and federal partners.
