Detectives Investigate Fatal Shooting in Italian Village

COLUMBUS, OH – Columbus Police Department’s homicide detectives are investigating the death of an unidentified male, whose body was discovered Monday morning by dumpsters behind a strip shopping center on North 4th Street, Italian Village. Preliminary investigation revealed the victim had been shot.

A passerby reported the body to the police around 4:20 a.m. Monday, noting significant blood surrounding the victim’s head. The victim was pronounced dead by Division of Fire medics at 4:27 a.m. His identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Surveillance video reveals that the victim, accompanied by another man, had walked towards the dumpsters around 2:24 a.m., roughly two hours before he was found. Detectives seek the public’s help in identifying the three individuals observed in the video.
