DETROIT — A 29-year-old Detroit man is facing multiple felony charges after prosecutors say he broke into an elderly man’s home while allegedly forcing his 11-year-old daughter to assist him.
Prosecutor Kym Worthy announced charges against Andre Stephon-Curtis Broadenax in connection with an April 29 home invasion in Detroit and the theft of a vehicle belonging to a Dearborn Heights man. Broadenax is accused of being in possession of the stolen vehicle when he forcibly entered a 75-year-old man’s residence in the 600 block of Marquette Drive around 8:43 p.m., before fleeing on foot.
According to investigators, Broadenax compelled his daughter to participate in the crime. Detroit Police officers arrested him shortly after the incident. Authorities have not released additional details about the child’s involvement.
Broadenax has been charged with first-degree home invasion, second-degree home invasion, larceny in a building, receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle, inducing a minor to commit a felony, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Court increases bond as hearings approach
He was initially arraigned on May 2 in 36th District Court before Magistrate Delphia Burton, where he received a $75,000 cash or surety bond, a GPS tether, and house arrest. At a bond re-determination hearing held Monday, Judge William McConico increased Broadenax’s bond to $150,000 with the same conditions of tether monitoring and confinement.

The probable cause conference is scheduled for May 14 at 8:30 a.m., with a preliminary examination set for May 21 at 8:45 a.m. before Judge Shawn Jacque.
The stolen vehicle belonged to a 52-year-old man from Dearborn Heights. Police have not yet disclosed how Broadenax allegedly obtained it or whether additional suspects are involved.
Authorities say Broadenax remains in custody pending further court proceedings. A request for his photograph has been directed to the Detroit Police Department.
