Disorderly Conduct Leads to Arrest in Downtown Cumberland

CUMBERLAND, MD – A disturbance in downtown Cumberland led to the arrest of Nicholas L. Craig, 31, from Folkston, GA, on charges of disorderly conduct. The incident occurred on Saturday, November 11, at approximately 8:52 AM at the intersection of N. Centre Street and Baltimore Street.

A Cumberland Police Department officer, while on patrol, was alerted by a citizen to a commotion nearby. The officer, upon exiting his vehicle, heard loud screaming and observed Craig engaging in disruptive behavior. Craig’s actions, which included standing on his toes, flexing his hands, and yelling, were deemed to be disturbing the peace.

Craig was apprehended and taken to police headquarters. He was issued a criminal citation and subsequently released, pending his trial. The incident underscores ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to maintain public order in Cumberland’s busy downtown area.
