Domestic Assault Claims Life of Young Mother in Lexington Park

ST. MARY’S COUNTY, Md. – A 25-year-old mother was shot and killed during a domestic assault in Lexington Park on Wednesday. The St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident occurred just before 11 a.m. on October 16, prompting deputies to respond to a call in the 46000 block of Rosewood Drive.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered Alaysia Janell Milburn suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to the hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. Officials noted that a 7-month-old baby was also present in the home and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

During the investigation, witnesses reported seeing a man flee the scene in a Hyundai Kona. Law enforcement initiated a search for the suspect and the vehicle, ultimately locating it speeding on Route 5, which led to a chase that continued into Charles County, involving multiple agencies including Maryland State Police.
