Dorchester Man Arrested on Firearm Charges After Police Response to Shots Fired Call

BOSTON, MA – Angelo DeJesus, 35, of Dorchester, was arrested early Sunday morning by Boston Police for multiple firearm-related charges. The arrest occurred following a response to a shot spotter activation indicating gunfire at approximately 12:34 AM near 981 Morton Street in Mattapan.

Police discovered a spent shell casing at 29 Woodbole Avenue but initially found no suspects or victims. Later, officers observed DeJesus acting suspiciously around 129 Standard Street and eventually tracked him to a backyard on Standard Street. A K9 unit alerted officers to a hidden firearm in a grill, which was identified as a Polymer 80 with an empty magazine and an obliterated serial number.

DeJesus faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, defacement of a firearm serial number, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and disturbing the peace. He is set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
