PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — A 12-passenger dragon boat capsized early Tuesday morning on the Schuylkill River near 4900 Ridge Avenue, prompting a swift emergency response and a water rescue by the Philadelphia Police Marine Unit.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 6:30 a.m. in the 5th District. All individuals aboard the vessel were pulled from the water safely. One person was transported by medics to Temple University Hospital; their condition has not been released.
The Philadelphia Fire Department and police were on the scene shortly after the initial report. Emergency crews confirmed that there is no longer an active rescue operation underway.
Officials said the Northwest Detective Division is leading the investigation into the cause of the capsize. No additional details have been released regarding the circumstances of the incident or the identities of those involved.
