HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – On Wednesday, Ziyang Wang, a 23-year-old resident of Jersey City, was taken into custody by members of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit.

This arrest was related to a two-car crash that took place on Monday, around 12:45 a.m., on Paterson Plank Road, south of Congress Street.

The collision involved a BMW X5 M50i, driven by Wang, and a Kia Amanti. The driver of the Kia, Dylan Weidenfeld, 26, also from Jersey City, was declared dead at the location. The BMW had five occupants, with Wang identified as its driver. Two backseat passengers of the BMW were pronounced dead, one at the scene and the other at Jersey City Medical Center.

Their identities are being withheld pending notifications to their families. Another backseat passenger, a 19-year-old female, remains in a critical state at Jersey City Medical Center, while a front-seat passenger sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Preliminary data from the investigation indicates that Wang’s vehicle exceeded speeds of 100 miles per hour moments before the crash. Wang is now facing multiple charges, including three counts of Reckless Manslaughter and Death by Auto.
