Driver shot by passing vehicle on Long Island Expressway

NEW YORK, NY – New York City Police Department detectives are investigating after a shooting on the Long Island Expressway involving two vehicles.

Police said a 42-year-old man was driving along the Long Island Expressway in the area of the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) exit at around 2:40 am when he was shot in the leg by an occupant of another vehicle.

Investigators said there were no events leading up to the shooting. The man was treated at a local hospital and released.

No suspects have been identified and police do not know why the man was targeted.
