Drivers Injured in South Jersey School Bus Crash

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP. NJ – The driver of a school bus and another vehicle were both injured in a crash that occurred Wednesday morning en route to school.

On Wednesday, at approximately 8:00 am, Gloucester Township Police responded to the 1400 block of Jarvis Road for a reported motor vehicle crash involving a school bus. Upon arrival, officers located a school bus and Toyota Camry disabled in the westbound lane as a result of a head-on collision. Lambs Terrace Fire Department and Inspira BLS/ALS responded to stabilize and treat both drivers and the single passenger of the bus.

“Initial investigation determined that the driver of the Camry suffered a medical emergency and crossed over the double yellow line and struck the school bus,” the Gloucester Township Police Department said in a statement. “The school bus was owned and operated by the West Berlin Bus Service and had one pre-teen child on board. The child was uninjured but their mother transported them to local hospital for evaluation as a precaution.”

Police reported the driver of the school bus suffered minor injuries as a result of the collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Camry was extracted from the vehicle by fire department personnel and was also transported to a local hospital for treatment. Jarvis Road was closed for an approximately two hours.
