DUNDALK, MD — A Baltimore County resident, who goes by the name “Blue” to maintain her anonymity, endured a sleepless night after discovering she had won a $50,000 Pick 5 prize in the August 26 evening drawing. The winning numbers, which she based on a relative’s birthday, had been her go-to choice for 17 years.

“It kept me up all night. I couldn’t go to sleep,” “Blue” shared after checking her numbers before bed and realizing she had won. A federal worker, she has been using the same five-digit combination since the Maryland Lottery introduced Pick 5 in February 2022 and had previously used variations of the numbers in Pick 3 and Pick 4 games.

The $1 straight bet was placed at Village Family Mart, located at 12 North Dundalk Avenue. Celebrating her big win with a friend at her side, “Blue” expressed plans to use her prize money to pay bills and possibly tackle a home improvement project.

The Village Family Mart also shares in the excitement, earning a $500 bonus from the Maryland Lottery for selling the winning ticket.
