East Village Woman Victim of Purse Snatching Inside Apartment Vestibule

NEW YORK, NY – An unsettling purse snatching incident in the East Village has prompted a police search for an unidentified male suspect.

On December 7, at about 6:50 PM, a 28-year-old woman was targeted as she entered a building near East 3rd Street and Avenue D. The suspect followed her into the vestibule and forcibly took her purse. He then attempted to coerce her into unlocking the vestibule door but fled upon the arrival of a neighbor. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain any injuries during the encounter.

The suspect is described as a male in his 40s with a medium complexion, standing about 5’7” tall and weighing around 160 pounds.

Police are urging anyone with information about the suspect to assist in the investigation.
